Urbanbella Travel Guide: Our Top 5 Favorite Places for Fall Foliage

The crisp air of fall is finally here and we are excited about the beautiful foliage that is already filling in towns across the country. Every year my husband and I make a commitment to drive further north to enjoy the cooler temps, pretty leaves and relax for a weekend with a couple of cocktails. I’ve listed our favorite spot here which is just a few hours drive from Atlanta along with a few others that may be closer to your neck of the woods. I would love to hear about your favorite fall ventures! Please share with me in the comments below and let us know if you have been to any on our list!!

1.The Highlands in North Carolina

This is our favorite spot! I recommend staying for at least 1 night at the Old Edwards Inn and Spa.  Stop by Mountain Fresh Grocery Store for a freshly made pizza or a catfish sandwich.  If you plan to stay overnight in this little paradise consider a weeknight since the October weekends may have limited availability.

2.Aspen, Colorado

The most popular destination here is Maroon Bells with a beautiful lake and two mountain peaks.  Be sure to try out one of the restaurants such as Paradise Bakery and Cafe after hiking one of the many trails.

3.The Berkshires in Western Massachusetts

Visitors boast about the Kemble Inn and of course the beautiful foliage.  We promise you will not get bored since there is no shortage of restaurants and festivals to attend this beautiful season.

4.The Catskills in New York

Be sure to check out the scenic drive, waterfalls and the many activities happening on the fall schedule. Be sure to try one of the great farm-to-table restaurants everyone boasts boast about including The Heron at Narrowsburg or the Phonecia Diner.

5.Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway

This scenic byway is located in Northern New Mexico and encircles the tallest mountains in New Mexico and passes through small towns dotted with lakes, streams and beautiful fall foliage.
