We’ve been fans since she was Brenda on the 80’s sitcom, 227.
Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing her take on multiple roles from Janet Jackson’s troubled BFF in Poetic Justice, to multifaceted characters on all three seasons of the ABC American Crime series, to the respected small-town doctor on HBO’s The Leftovers – she’s wowed us with her versatility. The Emmy award winning actress has directed several episodes of the OWN original series, Greenleaf. Now, she’s taking on a new role of great historical significance. She’s teaming with American Crime’s executive producers, John Ridley and Michael McDonald to create an FX drama about the Atlanta Child Murders, based on Kim Reid’s memoir, No Safe Place. With her at the helm, we’re certain the story will be told with dignity and accuracy.
Ms. King has not only avoided the pitfalls of post-child actor life, she’s done it with finesse and style. Her résumé stands on its own, but she is also known to rock serious red carpet fashion paired with great hair. Her microbraids on The Leftovers give us new life and make her look even more youthful. We’re looking forward to her next looks – onscreen and off.
